Whenever you embark on a new journey, step into uncharted waters, or step out of your comfort zone, a lot can go through your mind. Doubt, worries, and fear are the often the most common feelings, even among Christians. And as I head to Mexico city, I must admit that amidst my excitement and anticipation that has been growing since I was accepted into the Spearhead program, I do have a bit of nervousness and fear about the unknown. Yet why do we worry and doubt as Christians?
If we truly believe in God's faithfulness, love, and power, and more importantly, the promises revealed in his Word, then we have nothing to fear. And when I stop and think about it, I think this is the way God wants us to live. He wants us to be clinging to him, depending on him, and trusting him in all areas of our life. If we live our whole life in safety and comfort, and never take any risks for God, we will be missing so much. I think the reason so many Christians in America complain that church is boring, their faith is boring, ect. is because they never take any risks for God. They go to church, have their 5 minute devotions in the morning, and try to live a "good" life. But the Christian life, I am finding, can be so much more exciting, fulfilling, and rewarding if you are willing to step out in faith, take risks for God, and live a radical life for Christ.
Jesus never said it would be easy, but he said he would be with us the whole way! If you find that your walk with God is boring, perhaps you need to re-evaluate your priorities and who you are living your life for...
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. Mathew 16:25
